Techno Geekness

So I finally broke down and started tinkering with all the PC's I had in my apartment last night.

The first one to conquer was my parents discarded Compaq. It was infested with some pretty nasty Mal-ware, but after about an hour of scanning and deleting, she was ready to roll.

Next one was my old PC (the one before my current) that I built from the ground up has been out of commission for quite some time. I had no idea what was wrong with it, but I assumed that the hard drive was corrupt. So I took the drive out, set the jumper to slave and pig-tailed it onto the newly cleaned Compaq. During start up, XP ran a chkdsk on it and fixed the bad sectors. I plugged it back into it's original home and she fired right up.

The good thing about getting my old PC working, it has an ATI All in Wonder video card so I can use it as a media PC. I have it hooked up to my 46" LCD TV right now. Video looks really good on it. Sadly the audio needs some tweaking before I can get it working. I have to buy a sound card with optical output to hook up to a surround sound system which I have yet to buy also. I'll buy it someday.

I had to format that piece of shit external hard drive too. After a format and scan, it seems to be working fine for now. I am not very trusting of it though after it destroyed all data. Fool me once ....

I got the influenzas and I coughin' on your stuffs

So Sunday night, all was great. I went to sleep at about 1am, then woke up at 5am Monday morning with a scratchy throat. Couldn't go back to sleep so I made breakfast and chilled at the PC for a few hours. By Noon, the throat was full blown sore as hell and my body started feeling like an old man. I knew the crap had landed. By 10:00pm I had the chills that damn near shook my teeth out... with my heat blasting and 3 covers on. Tuesday morning I took my temperature, I was rocking 102 degrees ... dang. No worky for Tony. Needless to say, my boss was pissed, but he was lucky I showed up today. My fever broke in the night but I am still sick as hell. I was on so much Day Quill and Theraflu it seriously felt like I was stoned and buzzing drunk. On top of that, everything went against us today, I didn't even get a lunch. I feel worse now then I did when I was fevered. One of my worst days ever.... I begged for blunt force trauma to the face.

Stuff and things

My anger has passed, I never stay angry very long anyway. So I figured I better return this blog to some good spirited topics, since the last two I posted were not very positive.

It still amuses me how the simple things often turn out to be the best, let me explain. I have been musing about a coffee maker for months, since before Christmas. There was this fancy, super-duper double coffee machine that did espresso and coffee that was pretty pricey. Anyway I was looking at it again one day, weighing the options in my head weather to fork over the cash or not. Out of the corner of my
eye, I saw a lone french press coffee maker. I grabbed that little beauty right up. It was cheap and I make tea, coffee and Yerba Mate in it almost every day. Sure glad I didn't buy that big coffee maker!

Have you seen or heard about that show on Fox called "The Legend of the Seeker?" Well don't bother, the show sucks anyway. But I was intrigued enough to buy the first book that the show was based off of. The book is entitled "The Wizard's First Rule" by Terry Goodkind and is the first of 11 books in the series "Sword of Truth." I am almost done with the first installment, and I already bought the second.

Goodkind was not all that original in the grand scheme, its boy meets world and finds out he has powers and he is the only one that can stop the bad guy. Also there is a small cameo of a Smeagol-Gollum rip off, complete with broken English and need to steal what belongs to Richard, the lead.

But the book does have a refreshing, yet twisted take on the villain. Goodkind actually goes into detail about all the bad stuff he does. The villain, named Darken Rahl, enjoys killing people and torturing them. Rahl even practices a rare form of divination that uses the entrails of living humans to find answers. Yeah, Rahl is a sick puppy. But it adds some weight to the story, makes it suspenseful. Because you know if Richard get caught by Rahl, he won't die for a very long time.

Anger

I have not been full bore scream-worthy angry in a very long time. Today, right now now in fact, I am close to physically breaking items in my apartment. My hands are shaking and I feel the blood coursing in my neck...

I bought a 500GB external hard drive about a week ago from Best Buy. I transferred ALL of my extensive movie and music databases, my videos, my art, my photos ... everything to it.

The motherfucker is now corrupted and my PC won't recognize it. Hundreds of movies, gone. Weeks worth of music, gone. All of my art from this blog, my Youtube videos, the BB+B art, gone.

I seriously would kill small animals with my bare hands at this moment.

Facebook

So I decided I could not continue to bash Facebook for being worthless if I had not tried it. So I signed up for it ... Guess what, I was right! It sucks.

Deletion eminant.
